The Pediatrics Department of the American Hospital and the top pediatricians housed within render science-based services for diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of diseases along with preventive medicine services for all children, including newborns up until the age of 15.

These services are rendered in five divisions, namely the Newborn Room, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Inpatient Clinic, Outpatient Clinic and Accident and Emergency (A&E). Mothers and their newborns experience the critical and physically draining days in the aftermath of delivery with the invaluable support of baby-friendly experienced nurses and lactation advisors at our department that carefully meet all the criteria of being specialists in a “Baby-Friendly Hospital”. Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit can offer all necessary medical approaches for newborns who need critical care and its renewed functional design combined with the latest high-tech equipment offers advanced-level care and treatment options for all premature newborns, multiple births and all newborns who are at risk due to difficult births resulting in possible infection.

Being aware staying in the hospital is potentially traumatic for children and that outpatient treatment is not an option, we strive to avoid keeping children away from their mothers as much as possible. Therefore the Pediatric Clinic, Baby Room and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit are all located on the same floor in the hospital. Our department has been planned with the utmost care and vigilance to maximize safety for our child patients and thus hospital infections are statistically speaking extremely rare. Outpatient waiting and examination rooms are designed to ensure that children feel safe and comfortable while they are examined. Moreover, employees are conscientious in all their actions to avoid negatively effecting each child patient’s psychological well being. A lactation room that is spacious and has all the necessary equipment is also available to mothers who breastfeed their babies while waiting for examinations. Considering A&E services that are rendered round the clock, there is also a pediatrician in the A&E team of the American Hospital.

The experienced and good-humored team housed in the Pediatrics Department provides child patients with accurate diagnosis and best quality treatment methods to ensure their health in an environment where they feel maximum comfort and security. We are completely aware that we are ultimately responsible for the health of our child patients who represent the future.
