Prof. Vedat Aytekin, M.D.
  • Served as the Head of Interventional Cardiology Unit and Cardiology Department of Florence Nightingale Hospital from 1994 to 2017.
  • Actively performed and supervised more than 100,000 diagnostic angiography, more than 25,000 balloon dilatation and stent implantation for diseases of coronary arteries/peripheral arteries, TAVI and other interventional cardiology procedures.
  • Focused on physiology of coronary arteries (FFR, IFR), intra-coronary imaging techniques (IVUS, OCT) and CT Coronary Angiography.
  • Served as Secretary, Vice President and President of Interventional Cardiology Work Group of Turkish Society of Cardiology from 1998 to 2004
  • He was also Treasurer and Vice President in Executive Board of Turkish Society of Cardiology from 1999 to 2006.
  • Professor Aytekin was elected as “ Next President” in May 2018. He is also President of “Scientific Committee and National Cardiology Congress” and “Coordination Office of Young Cardiologist Sub-Group” of the Society.
  • Served as President of Istanbul Association of Interventional Cardiology Academy from 2009 to 2018.
  • In addition to the Chronic Total Occlusion Club, where he took role in foundation, he is member of European Society of Cardiology (FESC) and European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI).
