About

• Between 1986-1988 she served as an Internist at Medical Clinic of KFUPM, in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. In 1989, she worked as a Researcher at Justus Liebig University, Giessen, Germany. In 1992, she was a Visiting Professor at the Steno Diabetes Center in Copenhagen, Denmark; in 1994, at St. Bartholomew's Hospital in London, England; and in 1996, at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden.
• She became an Associate Professor in 1991 and a Professor in 1997.
• She served in public and social roles in the Turkish Nutrition Council Diabetes-Obesity Working Group, TUKMOS, Health Institutes of Türkiye (TÜSEB), Türkiye Public Health and Chronic Diseases Institute, ORPHANET, ACURARE, Turkish Nutrition Platform, TUCRIN, TİTCK Clinical Evaluation Commission, Turkish Diabetes Program, and TEMD Diabetes Working Group.
• She has been involved in important projects such as “N. Cyprus-Diabetes” and “TURDEP-I” (TURDIAB), “TURDEP-II” (TÜBİTAK-SBAG), “DE-PLAN” (EC-FP6), ‘MEDIGENE’ and “e-PREDICE” (EC-FP7), “SALDIYOS” (TÜBİTAK-SBAG), “ISTiSNA” (ISTKA), “ADMIRE” and “DIAVAX-2” (TEMD), “LEADER” (NN), ‘DECLARE’ (TIMI), “COVID-19 Screening & Diagnostic Centers” (TÜSEB), TEMD-1 and TEMD-2 (TEMD).
• She has over 300 articles, nearly 800 conference papers, nearly 100 books/book chapters, 1 patent, and 10 awards.
• She is a member of Value-Based Health Association (DTSD, Founding Member), Turkish Obesity Foundation (TOV, Vice President, 2007-2022), Turkish Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism (TEMD, Board Member, 2005-2010), Diabetes Obesity Metabolism Association (DOM, Founding Member, Board Member, 2003-To date), and Turkish Diabetes Foundation (TurkDiab, Founding Member, Board Member, 1995-2003).
