BREAST CANCER AWARENESS RUN

OBJECTIVE

The “Breast Cancer 3K Awareness Run” was organized to draw attention to breast cancer and emphasize the vital importance of early diagnosis.

SCOPE

The “Breast Cancer 3K Awareness Run” was organized at the Koç Grove on 13.10.2024, Sunday, in collaboration with the Koç Community Sports Club in order to raise awareness on breast cancer and emphasize the importance of attaining substantially positive outcomes with early diagnosis within the framework of the “Breast Cancer Awareness Month”.

ACTIVE DURATION/STATUS OF THE PROJECT

The project took place on 13.10.2024, Sunday. Turning the run and discussion event into an annual tradition and reaching out to larger audiences within the framework of the awareness month are aimed for.

TARGET AUDIENCE

Although breast cancer is mostly encountered among women, men also rarely have this condition. The project aims to raise awareness for particularly for women aged 40 and above to have routine breast check-ups.

AUDIENCE NEEDS MET

All volunteers taking part in the run were informed about breast cancer with an emphasis on the importance of early diagnosis.

WHAT ARE THE OUTCOMES OF THE PROJECT? WHAT HAS BEEN ACHIEVED?

The “Breast Cancer 3K Awareness Run”, which was organized in collaboration with the Koç Community Sports Club, was attended by 150 people. The dialogue on breast cancer by Prof. Dr. Yasemin Bölükbaşı made an emphasis on the importance of individuals allowing time for their health and the significance of early diagnosis. It became an interactive discussion with questions from the participants, and the run event was completed with substantial interest.
