What is Coronavirus (COVID-19)? What are the symptoms? How does it spread?

What is coronavirus?
A virus that causes flu-like symptoms.
 
How does it spread?
This disease can spread from an infected person through small droplets from the nose or mouth.
 
What are the symptoms?
COVID-19’s most common symptoms are fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Some patients may have fatigue, general physical weakness, muscle and joint pain.
 
How does the disease progress?

80% of COVID-19 patients experience 'mild' symptoms and can be treated at home.
 
When should one seek medical care?
If you have a fever and a cough as well as difficulty breathing and shortness of breath, seek medical attention at a local health authority.

 
To protect yourself,

  • Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands for 20 seconds with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Avoid close contact with people who display flu-like symptoms.
  • Cough or sneeze into a tissue paper or flexed elbow, then wash your hands.
  • Stay away from crowds and indoor environments
  • Avoid handshaking and hugging
  • Have a balanced diet to strengthen your immune system and maintain optimal sleep
  • Air any indoor space you occupy regularly.
  • Wash your clothes at 60 - 90 °C with laundry detergents.
  • If you have a fever and a cough as well as shortness of breath, wear a mask and seek medical attention at a local health authority.
  • Practice daily cleaning of frequently touched surfaces such as doorknobs, fixtures, and sinks with water and detergent.
 
Self-Quarantine Guide
Those with mild symptoms who are either suspected or confirmed infected patients are monitored at home until the symptoms recede and they make a full recovery.

During the Self-Quarantine;
  • Stay at home, if you have to leave your home always wear a mask
  • Wear a mask to protect other members of the household
  • Frequently air the rooms throughout your home
  • Try not to have visitors to your house during this time
  • Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water
  • Use a separate towel
  • Do not touch your eyes, mouth, and nose
  • Cough or sneeze into a tissue paper or flexed elbow, then wash your hands
  • Avoid handshaking and hugging
  • Eat a balanced diet to strengthen your immune system and maintain optimal sleep
  • Air any indoor space you occupy regularly.
