OUR DOCTORS Prof. Afsun Şahin, M.D. Ophthalmology REQUEST AN APPOINTMENT He was graduated from School of Medicine, Ankara University with High Degree in 2000. He was fellow in the field of cornea and ocular surface disorders at Harvard Medical School from 2009 to 2011. He was awarded the title of “Associate Professor” in 2012. He was given many local and international awards for his outstanding studies; (ARVO-Asia Travel Fellowship Grant Award, Gazi Eye Foundation “Best Scientific Article Award”, ARVO Collaborative Research Fellowship Award, ICO Helmerich Fellowship Award, ICO WOC Fellowship Award, Royal College of Ophthalmologists Best Reviewer Award, Turkish Academy of Sciences Successful Young Scientist Award. He organized his study group in the field of cornea and ocular surface disorders with the contributions of TÜBİTAK, TÜBA and ARVO. Member of Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology (ARVO), American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), Tear Film and Ocular Surface Society (TFOS), American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS), European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) and Turkish Ophthalmological Association. Principal areas of clinical interest: Complicated cataract surgery, Refractive surgery (to eliminate dependency on glasses), Keratoconus, Corneal disorders surgery and transplant, Dry eye and ocular surface disorders.
