RADIOLOGY (MEDICAL IMAGING)

American Medical Center provides services with 1.5 T MRI, 128 slice multidetector CT, 3 doppler ultrasonography, digital mammography, two x-rays, one digital and one CR, bone densitometry device and scopy device used in the operating room.

MRI IMAGING
Musculoskeletal, brain, spine, abdomen, cardiovascular examinations are performed with our 1.5 T MRI device which has all the equipment. The device has the ability to perform advanced techniques such as diffusion, perfusion, MRI angiography.

MULTIDETECTOR CT
In our department, service is provided with a 128-channel device. Abdomen, thorax, musculoskeletal, neuroradiology, coronary CT angiography, CT angiography, virtual colonoscopy and bronchoscopy examinations can be performed.

DIGITAL MAMMOGRAPHY
Regular annual mammography follow-ups for women at the age of 40 and older enable early diagnosis of breast cancer. Early diagnosis significantly increases the life expectancy and quality of life in this type of cancer. The digital mammography available in our clinic works with a dose of 30-40% less than a standard mammography.  The degree of breast compression is performed automatically, adequately and according to the person's tissue characteristics. This allows patients to feel less pain. It becomes easier to distinguish differences in density of the breast with digital mammography. Especially early signs of small nodules and calcifications are easily displayed. The obtained images are examined on high-resolution monitors in a digital environment. Moreover, the patient's previous x-rays are used for comparison when needed due to the ease of archiving.

DIGITAL RADIOGRAPHY
They are special systems that provide fast and high-quality imaging opportunities. The obtained images are examined on special monitor that strengthens the diagnostic value. Siemens Multix Pro is also used as the second device.

ULTRASONOGRAPHY AND DOPPLER ULTRASONOGRAPHY
USG evaluates the intra-abdominal organs, breast, throid gland, neck, soft tissues, hip, genital organs with sound waves of different frequencies. Neck, arms, legs and organ vessels are evaluated dynamically in doppler examination. The quality of the device is of great significant in pathology detection. For these procedures, the highest level devices are used in our department.

BONE DENSITOMETRY DEVICE
Bone densitometry is the method used for early diagnosis of bone thinning (osteoporosis) and follow-up with comparable measurements and which most accurately determines the risk of fractures due to osteoporosis. Especially for the follow-up of women in menopause and post-menopause period, the latest technology bone densitometry device is used in our department.

INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY
Besides imaging, radiology helps diagnosis and sampling. Ultrasonography, fluoroscopy, computed tomography devices are used in interventional radiological procedures. Liver, lung, prostate, thyroid and breast biopsies are usually performed with local anesthesia through a very small incision or with no incision at all. Moreover, diagnosis and treatment with paracentesis, thoracentesis, and cyst aspiration are possible. Some biopsies are obtained accompanied by a pathologist. In addition, intra-articular applications are carried out together with the orthopedics department using USG.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Since diagnosis, treatment, and follow-ups of all diseases that develop in the human body are closely linked to the services of the radiology department, almost all patients are referred to us. Radiologists at the American Outpatient Medical Center are specialized according to various imaging modalities, such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computerized Tomography (CT), Ultrasound (US), Mammography and Conventional X-ray, but they are also classified by their knowledge and experience of certain diseases. Playing a critical role in the quality of medical imaging, our technicians are also specializing in certain imaging techniques, as is the case with our radiologists. Accordingly, imaging techniques are efficiently and safely used, while accurate approaches are adopted for patients with specific problems. The department is specialized in diseases of the brain and central nervous system, musculoskeletal system, breast, prostate gland and urinary system, liver, bile ducts and pancreas as well as lungs, cardiovascular system, thyroid gland, and other endocrine organs.
