HAND SURGERY

The main subjects of our Hand Surgery Department are diseases that occur as a result of injuries or damages to the hand, wrist and structures close to this area such as skin, subcutaneous tissue, muscles, tendons, veins, nerves, joints and bones. As the American Hospital, we have been providing Hand Surgery services uninterruptedly since 1990, combining the best universal and up-to-date treatment methods with high quality and delivering them to our patients.

In our hospital, which has Turkey's original, most comprehensive and multidisciplinary visual and written resources on Hand Surgery and Rehabilitation, we treat all kinds of open injuries, deformities and burns that may occur, from fractures and dislocations, muscle and tendon ruptures or skin lacerations that occur without open injuries to very serious injuries and ruptures of the limb. In addition to accidents and injuries, congenital deficiencies, disorders and adhesions in the hand, wrist and upper arm; paralysis and sequelae due to trauma experienced during birth; rheumatic diseases, infections, tumors, problems occurring in the hand and wrist after trauma are also among the application areas of hand surgery. Operations performed with closed techniques for diseases and injuries of small joints such as the hand and wrist and intra-articular structures are also performed by hand surgeons.

When it comes to hand surgery, the first operations that come to mind are microsurgical operations. We can define microsurgical operations as the stitching of small veins and nerves under a microscope by magnifying them 5-25 times and using very small and special surgical instruments and threads thinner than a strand of hair, and with these surgeries, severed or fragmented hands or feet are reunited and made functional again.

In our department, we carry out hand surgery treatments under the titles of “medical”, “surgical” and “rehabilitation” with teamwork from beginning to end. All treatment processes, which are planned individually for each patient, are recorded in detail by the surgical and rehabilitation teams. When necessary, the rehabilitation team is invited to surgeries and early, mid-term and long-term planning is made. Surgery photographs and all visual and written details of the procedures are shared with our patients. In addition to these details of our approach, the transparency of the treatment process carried out within a scientific framework and the very strong communication reveal our difference.
