Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology provides preventive, early diagnosis and treatment services high above the general global standard by combining cutting-edge technology with highly skilled experienced doctors.

Moreover, our nurses and support staff provide patients with a professional and empathic approach to minimizing the stress commonly associated with endoscopy experiences.

At our Endoscopy unit which is continuously renewed and updated, these following procedures that require high-level training are carried out: EGD (esophagogastroduodenoscopy, a procedure performed by doctors to examine the lining of the esophagus (swallowing tube), stomach, and upper part of the small intestine (duodenum), colonoscopy, as well as capsule endoscopy, balloon dilatation and stent placement intestinal strictures, ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, a technique to diagnose and treat certain problems of the biliary or pancreatic ductal systems), EUS (endoscopic ultrasound is used to explore the digestive tract and nearby organs and tissues, to sample -biopsy- fluid and tissue from the abdomen or chest for analysis, as well as to determine cancer advancement and endoscopic submucosal dissection.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Patients admitted to our department suffer from issues concerning the digestive system organs, starting from the esophagus including the stomach, small intestines, colon, liver, pancreas as well as the gallbladder. These complaints include, but are not limited to swallowing difficulty, feeling of obstruction while swallowing, stomach aches and abdominal pain, heartburn and gastric discomfort, vomiting, constipation, and distension.
Irritable bowel syndrome which is a common disease in our society, reflux, gastritis, constipation, hemorrhoids as well as gastrointestinal motility disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, diseases of the pancreatic duct and bile ducts are meticulously treated by our department’s physicians.

Removing polyps from the large intestine, mucosectomy, endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), and endoscopic treatment of achalasia are performed at our department which is a leader in Turkey for this variety of procedure.
