• In 2000, he completed his doctorate in
Sleep Apnea and Cardiovascular Diseases at the University of Gothenburg, School of Medicine, Sweden.
• He became an
Associate Professor at the University of Gothenburg in 2007.
• Until 2015, he conducted clinical studies and research in the field of sleep apnea and heart diseases at
Skaraborg Education and Research Hospital and the Department of Cardiology at the University of Gothenburg, Sahlgrenska Hospital/Östra.
• He returned to Istanbul in 2015 and started working as a Professor at the
Department of Chest Diseases at the Marmara Medical Faculty; he founded and developed the Sleep Medicine Center.
• He also worked as a Visiting Senior Researcher at the
University of Gothenburg, Sweden between 2015-2017 and at Lund
University, Sweden, from January 2018 onwards.
• In 2017, he was appointed as an
Adjunct Professor at the University of Pittsburgh, USA.
• He continues to be a member of the
Editorial Board of the American Journal
of the Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, and an Associate Editor of the Annals of the American
Thoracic Society and the Journal of Clinical Medicine.
• He founded the
Sleep Apnea Clinic and Sleep Laboratory at Koç University Hospital in 2019.
• He was accepted as a Fellow of the
American Thoracic Society in 2020.
• He was appointed as a
Visiting Professor at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Division of Sleep Medicine at Harvard University in the USA in 2022.
